About me
I am not a Muslim, nor am I an Islamic scholar. I have spent virtually no time studying Islam, in the classical sense. I think I read the Koran in English once, but I can't really remember. I am a Christian who grew up in the conservative Central Valley of California.
I have, however, spent the better part of the last 12 years working and living with Muslims overseas. I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Kyrgyzstan, and since then I've worked in Afghanistan, Turkey (with Syrians), Nigeria, and Chad. From Central Asia to the Middle East to West Africa, my Muslim colleagues and friends have been kind, enthusiastic, hard-working, and inspiring. Here it is my honor, with their permission, to share a little bit about them with the world.
